Hello guys, today i want to talk about this BBC'S TV show "The Old Grey Whistle Test" from the 80`s. In that escenary i have seen the best live presentations of some of the classics.
The Old Grey Whistle Test estuvo al aire desde el año 1971 al 1987, más de una década. Creado por Rowan Ayers y presentado principalmente por Bob Harris (hasta el 1978). Funcionaba como la contraparte del show Top of the Pops, en el cual sólo se presentaba los líderes de las carteleras musicales.
TOGWT was on air since 1971 till 1986, more than a decade. It was created by Rowan Ayers and hosted mainly by Bob Harris (up to 1978). Its was, in some ways, the couterpart of The Top of the Pop Show.

Algunas de las mejores presentaciones de este show fueron de: David Bowie, Judas Priest, Bob Marley and The Wailers (su primera presentación en el Reino Unido), Billy Joel, Ramones, Madness, Talking Heads, ZZ Top y los irreverentes New York Dolls. Cómo podrán observar, el programa cubría un cartel muy variado de músicos. Desde el reggae al punk, glam rock, pop, ska, etc, etc.

Vean cómo Patti transmite ese rock n' roll con blues, con mucho sentimiento. *Hey Joe está registrada legalmente por Billy Roberts, pero la versión más conocida es la de Hendrix.

Dire Straits, mejores conocidos por Money for nothing, presentan "Sultans of the Swings. Debo decir que me enamoré de esta canción, porque la composición es muy diferente y la letra es interesante y casi divertida. Además, la guitarra de Mark Knopfler atrapa, solo tienen que escucharla.

The Police, tocando I can't stand loosing you. Creo que eran los chicos "cool" de esa época, por su vestimenta.

The New York Dolls, con "Jet Boy", muy pegajosa, solo tienen que verlos en el escenario, son excelentes. Aprecio el tema de la banda, dan un buen show. Se los posteo por si acaso no los conocen, pues son ellos.

Y por último pero no menos importante, Blondie con el fabuloso tema "Heart of glass", una tremenda introducción a la época musical de los 80 y el show en vivo de Deborah Harry.
